Who is Attorney Symone Redwine, ESQ.?
Symone Redwine is a Dallas-based lawyer, legal analyst, YouTube personality, and trusted “legal bestie” to her rapidly growing following. Legal Lens Podcast listeners may recognize her from season two of Ready to Love, where she met her fiancé, FOX, TMZ, ABC, and other networks and programs.
Redwine has her own law firm, the Redwine Law Firm, and she hosts her own podcast, Is That Legal??? Her background is in finance and law, and she received an Ivy League education at Cornell University, where she focused on criminal defense and real estate law.
“I have ADD, but growing up in the nineties, ADD wasn’t really a thing, and my parents didn’t really believe in medicating or diagnosing their children, so my mom thought that she should give me an outlet for my energy instead, and I actually started as a child actress. By the time I was eight years old, I was in the Screen Actor’s Guild, and from that experience, I decided I wanted to be a lawyer because I wanted to help people. After doing my very first national commercial for McDonald’s, my agent actually stole all my money, and that really inspired me to become an attorney to help people in those situations, and that was the impetus of my career. Then, I realized I’m a good storyteller, and the rest is history,” smiled Redwine.
Redwine is known for her work in expunging criminal records, and she has a book out called Background Checks 101 in which she covers all things related to expungements. Redwine has also represented high-profile clients, like Christian Louis Vuitton.
Currently, Redwine practices civil law with a focus on personal injury, and does real estate closings through her title company, and does celebrity legal breakdowns on her channel, which she says she started because of the number of P. Diddy and R. Kelly victims who’ve been able to bring lawsuits much later in life. In fact, she was the first to sue R. Kelly civilly on behalf of a client.
Given her impressive background, it should go without saying that we were all incredibly honored to have her join the Legal Lens Podcast for the first time. Here’s an overview of what we discussed during this episode of the Legal Lens Podcast, starting with the latest on redistricting in Texas!
What Is Happening with Texas Redistricting?
As a Texas native, Attorney Symone Redwine, ESQ., has a unique and insightful perspective on Texas redistricting, saying she has offices in both Houston and Dallas.
“This is happening because our President is running scared, honey. He is frightened about being able to maintain the Republican majority in the House and the Senate, but particularly the House. They’re trying this out in Texas first – this is just the test run. That’s why it’s so important to understand the magnitude of this. No matter what state you’re in, this can affect you,” explained Redwine.
Naturally, this led to the question: How is Texas redistricting occurring? Attorney Redwine has some excellent insight into what is going on.
“How is he doing it? By redrawing district lines to make this gobbledygook puzzle that makes no sense. So, for example, and all these are in majority democratic areas around Austin, Dallas, Houston, et cetera. It’s happening around San Antonio as well. They’re fearful of Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett and have redrawn her out of her own district so that she can no longer run for the same seat. They’re trying to take away and dilute the Black vote,” continued Redwine.
How Often Does Redistricting Occur in Texas?
Our conversation then steered into how often Texas redistricting typically occurs, which Redwine said is “normally every 10 years.”
As for who is responsible for redistricting in Texas, Redwine was as candid as ever, saying, “Basically, the President picked up the phone and made a bunch of calls and said, ‘You have to do this right now because I’m afraid we won’t maintain our majority, so they said, ‘OK, we’ll do that right now.”

The President and Black Women
During this conversation, we also discussed the immeasurable impact the current administration is having on Black women across the nation, as we touched on recent job statistics reports that revealed Black women have been disproportionately impacted by changes we’ve seen by the administration.
“This is particularly distressing because I always felt like working for the government was one of the most job-secure areas for African Americans. The reason is that it was the one industry where we were given a fair shot and received an equal playing field, more so than in corporate America. You had job security for years. Well, now that’s leaving, in part, because of the current administration, which has wholesale adopted a policy that believes if you are a Black woman, you must have been a DEI hire, and according to this administration, a DEI hire is someone who’s unqualified,” said Redwine.

A Message of Hope from Attorney Symone Redwine – Don’t Stop Fighting
As always, we wanted to close the conversation on a note of hope for you, our audience, and Redwine had some rousing and impassioned words of encouragement.
“Don’t stop fighting. The reason our current administration is as concerned as they are is because you have been using your voice, articulating your concerns, and articulating the changes you want to see. Use your voice on the local level. That’s the first step because, ultimately, if the local representatives are concerned about the security of their seat, they are more likely to implement the changes you want. In the end, their goal is self-preservation. So don’t lose hope, and continue to use your voice and fight,” said Redwine with galvanizing aplomb.
