Drake Sues Label for Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” – Insights from Angela Reddock-Wright @ Merit TV

Will Kendrick Lamar Perform His Hit Song “Not Like Us” at Super Bowl 2025?

That was a key question when Angela Reddock-Wright appeared on Dr. Phil’s Merit TV (on January 16th, 2025) to discuss the recent lawsuit filed by rapper Drake against his record label Universal Music Group (Lamar’s same label), alleging the label defamed him by releasing and publishing Lamar’s hit song “Not Like Us” knowing the “diss track” intentionally stated things about Drake that were not true and led to “dangerous real-life consequences” for Drake, including painting him in a negative light, such as a “pedophile.”

Many believe that part of Drake’s motivation in filing the lawsuit was to push Universal Music Group to keep Lamar from performing the song during his half-time show at the 2025 Super Bowl 59 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

On a legal note, Angela discussed whether Drake’s lawsuit gives rise to a true claim for defamation.
